About Us

Warren County High School is located in Warrenton, North Carolina, a town located in the northern Piedmont region of North Carolina. 

The band program includes Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Spring Drumline, and other performance ensembles.

The award-winning Marching Band ensemble has won numerous awards and trophies and have represented the state of North Carolina across national competitions and showcases. Between the years of 2006 and 2017, the ensemble won seven Class A National High Stepping Band Championships and five Class A State High Stepping Band Championships under the direction of Dr. Taylor Whitehead.


The highly-acclaimed "Steel Stix" Drumline and "Platinum Ice" auxiliary units are known nationally for their high energy performances and adaptability for any level of competition. Over the past few decades, they have been awarded nine National High Stepping Drumline Championships, two National Danceline Championships, two National Auxiliary Championships, and countless 1st Place Drumline & Auxiliary trophies.

The symphonic & concert ensembles historically were premiere ensembles for the County as well as they won multiple accolades and trophies and were distinguished with high honors in the mid-to-late 90 sunder the direction of Mr. James Powell. The Concert Ensemble placed Superior at the The Manhattan Skyline Festival in 1990 in Manhattan, New York against fourteen other high school symphonic ensembles, gaining the top scores out of all groups involved. The Concert Ensemble also placed Outstanding twice at the 1993 All American Music Festival in Orlando, FL against nine other esteemed concert ensembles that traveled nationally and internationally from different parts of the United States and Canada. In the past few years, the "Symphonic Eagle Band" has revitalized and has found recent success placing Excellent at the King's Dominion Festival of Music in 2025.
